Toth Mold/Die Inc. recently celebrated their 35th anniversary in injection molding and injection mold building.

We have performed work for both small and large companies. I think back to some of our customers that have been inventors and wonder where some of them ended up. Our first customer for Toth Mold/Die Inc. was an inventor. His product was a mouthwash dispenser.  That was back in 1982. The job actually put us into business with a down payment for three molds. We had to design the product and select the material to be used for injection molding it.

One of the most original products from that same time period was a picture frame. It was a six sided frame measuring approximately 6” x 6”. What made this frame unique was the pieces were able to snap together to make a collage of pictures that hung on the wall. Toth Mold/Die Inc. developed the interlocking profile that made this a successful product. Injection molding this part was a challenge.  The material was polycarbonate and ejecting this part from the mold had to be done with ejector blades which had to be put in the mold using wire cutting EDM which was a new technology back then.

Injection Molding – Ticket Holder

Another very creative product that comes to mind that took a lot of development was a ticket holder. An inventor came to us with a concept of a holder that was 3” x 6” and about 3/8 of an inch thick. It was also flat and consisted of two parts. Clear polycarbonate was chosen for the material. The function of the part was to hold your favorite ticket from an event. The ticket was laid in the frame and a clear flat piece was pushed in and locked in by a friction fit. This product could either hang on the wall or sit on a table. The cool thing about this invention is it was sold at the Cleveland Indians 1995 playoff games that were held at Jacobs Field. I have one of my tickets proudly displayed as you can see in the image above.

These are just a few of the many products that Toth Mold/Die Inc. has designed and built over the years for satisfied inventors. This is the fun part of injection molding; working with inventors that have a dream and being able to bring their product to life.
